23rd April 2014 (8:00pm EST): - Steady progress is being made today. New problems do keep cropping up but while they take time to fix they are not major issues. The tech team cannot speculate on a restart time but say it is getting closer.
22nd April 2014 (9:00am EST): - The drive arrived as planned yesterday and the files are currently being copied from it on to the servers. Now that everything has finally arrived at our data center we hope it will not be too much longer before the site is back up and running!
21st April 2014 (9:40am EST): - The drive should be arriving in Tucson today with the missing files. Once we are able to start copying them over to the servers we will have a better idea of how long it is going to take to complete this part of the process.
19th April 2014: - Some progress has been made with resolving the database issues today. We are also awaiting the arrival of a drive containing over 1 terabyte of data that was shipped this morning.
18th April 2014: - Even though it is a statutory holiday here in Canada today (and our office is closed) our tech team in Tucson, and the Getty Images tech team, continue to work solidly to resolve these issues. Information will continue to be posted over the weekend as we know it.
17th April 2014 (4:00pm EST): - It has been determined that the Oracle database currently cannot start. These problems were totally out of our control and Getty Images and our team are working around the clock to correct them. We have an Oracle expert on staff that is working on correcting the database problem.
Please rest assured that this is in no way a reflection of how we do business. We will take care of everyone after the dust settles and appreciate your patience. We want nothing more than to get things back online and start providing all of you with a level of service that we are sure will exceed your expectations, a promise you can count on.
16th April 2014 (11:00am EST): - Our tech team has called in a database specialist to resolve the issues preventing the databases from going back online. They are also in discussion with Getty over some missing software/configuration errors that have been brought to light during reassembly of these 30+ servers. Worst case scenario they are estimating a re-launch on Friday 18th April. We can assure you that we feel your frustration and continue to appreciate your patience during this difficult time.
15th April 2014 (8:00pm EST): - The last remaining hardware issues have been resolved but unfortunately we are still left with some database problems to fix before the sites can be relaunched. One piece of good news is that we have determined that we will be able to automatically give all of our members additional time once we are back up and running. We greatly appreciate your patience as well as the many encouraging and supportive emails we received today!
15th April 2014 (9:00am EST): - Unforseen hitches and glitches yesterday prevented us from being able to bring the sites back online as scheduled. They are hopeful that these can be resolved and we have everything crossed for a restart sometime today. As we said in our email notice last week we encourage any subscribers who wish for an extension to their subscription to drop us an email with their username. You are very important to us and we can assure you that we want these sites back online as much as you do!
14th April 2014: - The servers arrived safely in Tucson, AZ last night and the tech team will be working flat out today to get them all back up and running.
Dear Animation Factory Visitor,
We would first like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as the new owners of Clipart.com and AnimationFactory.com. We are proud to say that our company, Vital Imagery Ltd., is now the largest supplier of clipart and 3D animations in the world, and we promise the next year will be a very exciting one for our subscribers. The process of merging our content with the newest members of our family will begin very soon, meaning the addition of great new images to the current inventory.
Before this can happen, however, we will be experiencing a slight disruption in service. This transition requires a physical move of the servers so we will be shutting down the web sites from April 11th until sometime on April 14th. We apologize for the inconvenience. We know this move will be worth it! Through it we stress our continued commitment to you and look optimistically to the future.
